2018 IL DUETO (CABERNET SAUVIGNON BLEND)

Vintage
2018 vintage in Napa Valley was perfect for red grapes. A placid Summer was followed by perfect conditions early Fall contributing to slow down harvest and keep naturally refreshing acidity levels. Grapes were handpicked and shipped to us weeks before the fires ravaged some locations in California. Overall, the grapes were elegantly balanced, incredibly rich, and intensely aromatic.
 
Winemaking
Different techniques were utilized to boost the natural elegance of this variety. Two batches from two different regions were perfectly blended. Extended cold and warm maceration, controlled temperature fermentation and delestage, helped to develop a robust body, wired with powdery tannins and long-lasting palate. Savory and red fruit aromas open the nose for peppery notes. This blend stretched its muscles for over 18 months in neutral French and American oak until finally was racked and prepared for bottling.

The 2018 Ficarra Cellars Il Dueto Cabernet Sauvignon blend releases a never-ending flow of aromas such as blackcurrant, cedar, volcanic ash, cured meat, dark chocolate, and ripe cherries. This exotic variety can be shared and enjoyed with grilled meats, roasted pork, tapas, or cured meats.  This wine pairs to perfection with Wagyu beef, hearty casseroles, grilled and roasted red meats.
