2018 OLD VINE ZINFANDEL VECCHIA VITE (ZINFANDEL)
 
Vintage
2018 vintage in the Sonoma region was perfect for red grapes. A placid Summer was followed by perfect conditions early Fall contributing to slow down harvest and keep naturally refreshing acidity levels. Grapes were handpicked and shipped to us weeks before the fires ravaged some locations in California. Overall, the grapes were elegantly balanced, incredibly rich, and intensely aromatic.
 
Winemaking
Different techniques were utilized to boost the natural elegance of this variety. Extended cold and warm maceration, controlled temperature fermentation and delestage, helped to develop a robust body, wired with powdery tannins and long-lasting palate. Savory and red fruit aromas open the nose for peppery notes. This blend stretched its muscles for over 18 months in neutral French and American oak until finally was racked and prepared for bottling.

The 2018 Ficarra Cellars Vecchia Vite Zinfandel releases a never-ending flow of aromas such as strawberries, cinnamon, chocolate, cassis, and black olives. This Californian flagship varietal wine can be shared and enjoyed with Ossobuco, Chicken Pomodoro, or Rigatoni with Ragu.
