2019 Malbec
Vintage
2019 vintage in the Central Valley of California was in sync with this aromatic grape variety. A normal Summer was followed by lower than usual temperatures in early Fall, which turned out to be very handy in keeping naturally refreshing acidity levels and low potential alcohol levels. Grapes were picked and shipped to us weeks before the fires ravaged some locations in California. Overall, the grapes were elegantly balanced, incredibly exuberant, and intensely aromatic.
Winemaking
Different techniques were utilized to boost the natural elegance of this variety. Extended cold and warm maceration, controlled temperature fermentation and delestage, helped to develop an exuberant body, and an eclectic array of flavors, balanced structure, smooth tannins, and crimson red color. Because for some, it is all about expressing the story the vineyard wants to tell written by a Winemakers patient guidance, Neutral French and American oak was partially used until this Malbec was ready for the grandstand.
